Aftercare Program
When your child completes our program, the period of transition that follows is critical for determining the long-term success of your child. Our Certified Parent Coaches can offer invaluable assistance for your family. Our coaches have many years of experience working specifically with Catherine Freer clients and their families, and therefore have a deep understanding of the challenges you will face as you transition your child home or on to a therapeutic school or program. Let them assist you during this critical time.
Our Certified Parent Coaches will:
- Empower you to hold firm boundaries with your child
- Discover, clarify, define your goals, and design a plan to achieve them.
- Assist you in overcoming obstacles and achieving your goals.
- Help you create and maintain a sustainable home contract
- Assist you in strengthening your relationship with your child
- Help to improve parent-child communication
- Work with you on helping shift family dynamics
- Help you face challenges with creativity and conviction
- Enable you to identify your unique parenting strengths
- Help you reduce your stress level
- Work with you to achieve balance in your life
Through regular telephone conferences our Certified Parent Coaches can provide continuing support to facilitate effective change and a smooth transition. There is an additional fee for this service. Contact Sarah Mack at 800-390-3983 if you are interested in this program.

What is parent coaching?
While therapy helps participants understand and process the events of the past, coaching is completely forward facing, focusing solely on the here and now and planning for the future. While we strongly believe that continuing with outpatient therapy is critical to the success of our clients and their families, we also believe that parents can benefit from specific parent coaching in order to help their children move forward and to capitalize on the benefits gained by their wilderness experience. Parent coaching helps empower parents to better understand the issues causing them to struggle, and helps them generate new and creative solutions in order to promote long-term change within the family. Coaching is about moving from the present toward a future that you design and focusing on how to get there.
