Oregon Transition Homes

Rock ClimberThe transitional home program offers your child the opportunity to live in an emotionally safe, highly structured, home-like environment. This program is ideal for adolescents who do not require the intensity of a therapeutic school, but who would not likely make appropriate behavior changes if they returned immediately to their own home and community.

Children live in a private home with a highly qualified and trained family. The families are selected for their ability to provide supervision and support and for their experience working with challenging teens. Adolescents benefit from living in a home environment, where there are clear and consistent rules and expectations, and they are expected to take part in family activities.

LassoParticipants may enroll in a local school. When their stays are longer, they may become active members of the community, taking part in area activities and events.

Each month, students participate in a wilderness weekend trip. These outdoor weekends offer a range of activities including backpacking, whitewater rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, and rock climbing, and help keep the child committed to the decisions they made while participating in the wilderness expedition.

Wilderness Weekend Trips

SaddleOnce a month, your child will participate in a wilderness weekend designed to help him or her maintain the commitments they made to themselves and their families while on their wilderness expedition, and to continue to examine their ongoing issues in a structured environment.

During the weekends, the children are encouraged to share their experiences of early recovery with peers and staff, and help each other refine the healthier attitudes and skills they learned on expedition. We try to place emphasis on clean, sober fun (while at the same time dealing with recovery and behavior issues).
