Santiam Crossing School
Santiam Crossing School is an outdoor therapeutic school for troubled youth located on 157-acres in the Oregon foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Here your child can build on treatment gains made during their therapeutic wilderness experience and resume academic study.
The school integrates academics, wilderness experiences, service learning, and therapy - all in a positive peer culture. One feature of the culture is that the students have shared similar experiences, knowledge, and insight from participating in the same therapeutic wilderness program.
Your child's academic history is reviewed and his or her course work is selected according to learning styles, grade level, academic history, and personality. Accredited online courses provide the framework for each student's academic work, while classroom teachers provide individualized support and guide students in the practice of personal responsibility, time management, and recognition of their strengths and unique learning styles.
Students stay an average of six to 12 months at Santiam Crossing School. A beautiful mountain stream runs though the lush and forested property. At the heart of the campus is a creek fed pond. A floating dock on the pond is a favorite spot to hold individual therapy sessions.
Students graduating from Santiam Crossing School are expected to be ready to make appropriate and healthy lifestyle choices, stay committed to their recovery, and are better able to experience academic success in another setting.
Santiam Crossing School is a registered private school and is state-licensed as both an Outdoor Youth Program and an Organizational Camp.
